20 Questions to Consider When Touring
There’s so many factors that go into finding the right venue, and while budget and availability are top priorities, we have a list of questions that are important to keep in mind. Lucky for you – if you tour with your Confetti and Cocktails Event Planner, we’ll have the answer already or obtain the info for you!
- What is included in the rental fee, and how many hours does it cover?
- What’s the payment plan/schedule? What forms of payment do you accept?
- Capacity maximums and contract minimums on attendees?
- Do you have liability insurance? Am I required to get event insurance?
- Are there any noise restrictions?
- Will the property be undergoing any sort of renovations during my wedding?
- What kind of security is provided in the contracted spaces; ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, and ready room spaces?
- Are you licensed to provide alcohol service?
- Do you have a corkage fee?
- Can we provide our own wine, beer, champagne, or hard liquor? If not, can we make special requests? What about signature cocktails?
- Do you have an in-house caterer or do I need to provide my own? If there is an in-house caterer, do I have the option of using an outside caterer instead?
- Do you have an on-site baker, or do I need to source my own cake? If there is an on-site baker, can I still bring an outside cake?
- Is there a cake-cutting fee? If I use a cake made on site is the fee waived?
- Can I hire my own vendors? Is there a preferred vendor list we need to stick to?
- Can the venue accommodate a DJ or live band?
- What time can my vendors start setting up on the day of the wedding?
- Are open flames allowed? Many brides have a candle-lit dinner vision, which we agree is beautiful, however a large number of venues don’t allow this!
- Electrical hookups? Important to note this when touring, but especially important to ask if this is an outdoor venue, or a space you’ll be bringing in food trucks.
- How many restrooms are there? We recommend 1 restroom per 25 people, at a minimum.
- When the venue is not a hotel, consider transportation and accommodation options and how this will impact your budget.
